LYRICS OF HUNKASAURUS

There are 2 components to a good song: 1) Good Music. 2) Good Lyrics. If you went to a newsstand in the 60's you'd find a lot of teen magazines that had nothing but the latest lyrics to new songs. We don't do that anymore because the lyrics to today's hits are so lousy!!!!

So Musea, in the spirit of those days when lyrics were king (or at least queen to king music) is proud to reprint the lyrics to some of the original, no format songs of Hunkasaurus and His Pet Dog Guitar (see main page for Hunk's resume). If you, reader, would like to hear the music to any one song send $1 or blank cassette to Musea along with your request.

DANCING ACROSS THE MOON

(rockabilly)
I'm dancing, dancing across the Moon
I'm dancing, dancing across the Moon
C'mon babe, rocket up and join me soon.

I'm hip-hopping across the Moon
(Crater to crater)
I'm hip-hopping across the Moon
(Crater to crater)
C'mon babe, rocket up and join me soon

Well I went downtown to the hardware store.
Bought me some pipes and some tin foil.
Taped them together and lit the fuse.
Headed out into the blue
(repeal 1st verse. and chorus)

DON'T GIVE UP ON LOVE

(love song)
On the road to who knows where
Where nobody seems to care
And you ask why am I here,
Don't give up on love.

Cry your eyes out everyday
Hide out in your hideaway
Keep all the world at bay but
Don't give up on love.

Don't give up on love.
It'll see you through.

One last lime and verse to say
Say in time you'll try again.
You may loose or you may win but
Don't give up on love.

2 TIMES I CROSS THE MUDDY RIVER

(koan? blues)
2 times I cross the muddy river
1 time I waded (waited?) home (repeat)
2 times I climb the high high hill
1 time I came back down. (repeat 1st line)

chorus:
What's the meaning of these chords?
Is it just a koan or the theater
The theater of the absurd.

2 times I cross the wide wide ocean
1 time I sail back home.
2 times I climb the highest mountain
1 time I climb back down.

2 times I cross the wide wide universe
1 time I came back around.
2 times I climbed out of the universe
l time I climbed back down.

I'm Alive

(folk song)
I walk, love to walk
Around twilight, round the block
But I'm alive, I'm alive with hope.

I live in a room,
'Bout the size of the hut
On Walden Pond,
But I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive with hope.

Say what you will but
I'm all right, I'm all right, I'm all right with hope.

Simple life, work hard
End of the day, I'm tired.
But I'm alive, alive with hope.

Peace Sign

(protest song)
There's a cloud of memories
Blowing by the wind here to you and me

All these songs come back again
About the passion and the fire we had
For doing the right thing.

We'd gather hands in a circle and run round & round &...
Until we'd loose our balance or breath and fall down....

Talking about peace and accepting all men...
Talking about the right of all of us to b happy again.

Coming in loud, and coming in clear.
Cat Stevens is singing that the Peace Train's arriving
here (All aboard!)

Beatle John says "Give Peace A Chance",
Instant Karma's gonna knock you off your feet
in a cosmic dance.

And the rhetoric and soul and message goes on and on...
1 part truth, 1 part wish, 1 part gall all in song....

Now it's time to give peace and ear
And bring back the best of what we had to say back
there (like the Youngbloods who kept on singing):

'C'mon people now, smile on your brother
Ever'ybody get together, try to love on another
Right nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!'

DREAMBOAT

(bossa nova/pop)
Everybody's trying to discover a new comet in the sky.
And everybody's talking `bout what girls dating what guy
But all I want to do is stare in the starry skies above
And all I want to do is dream about the one I love

Dreamboat, dreamboat be mine.
Dreamboat, dreamboat be mine

Everybody's talking `bout the Mars rock that fell from
space and
Every boy & girl has got something that they just have
to say
But all I want to do is stare in the starry skies above
And all I want to do is dream about the one I love.

THROUGH MY WINDOW

(recitation - no music)
Through my window the moonlight is shining
Drawing the oceans toward the sky.
And like the moon shines you shine in my life
And draw out of my soul wholehearted love.

You are the star that's guiding me
Lighting the way through the dark.
You are the flame that ignited in me
A love that will never depart

And so to you I vow my love forever
Through darkness & light, night and day.

WE ARE THE KERNELS OF THE POPCORN PATROL

(jingle)
We are the kernels of the popcorn patrol,
We say butter, you can say yes or no.
We have 3 sizes; medium, large or small oh
We are the kernels of the popcorn patrol.

Kernels of the popcorn patrol.
Kernels of the popcorn patrol.

INSTRUMENTAL

(guitar - by Pet Dog)
................................................................................. etc.

PLAY THAT COUNTRY MUSIC

(bluegrassish)
Play that country music all day long.
Play that country music till the cows come home.
Save off on the plowing till we know
Gonna have a hoedown and a country show.

Let the blue grass start to sway
Let the guitars start to play.
Save off on the plowing till we know
Gonna have a hoedown and a country show.

ALICE (& The Looking Glass)

(children's song?)
I'm looking through the glass (repeat 3 times)
And I wont' be afraid anymore.

I'm moving through the glass...
And I won't be afraid anymore.

I'm leaving the glass...
And I won't be afraid anymore.

CAT'S MEOW

(rock)
I got a gal, t-shirts and jeans,
When we go out, she's a fashion queen -
Not dressed in black. Black is just too drab
(what does she wear) Peach, pink or red.
She's a fashion plate- quite a dish.
She's on all the single boys' wish list
Cat's Meow....Cat's Meow

Got a man, looks a lot like me,
He's a fashion fan, but no suits please
Wears a waiter's coat in poly-green
From the Baker Hotel. Man that's sweet.
And I tie my tie in a 'Tommy Knot'
My pants are creased and the crease is sharp.
Cat's Meow....Cat's Meow.

HOW BEAUTIFUL (GIRLS ARE)

(love song)
How beautiful Cinderella must have been and
How beautiful in the eyes of her prince and
How beautiful girls are.

How beautiful in black and white, Heddy Lamar
As she walks through the maze of the streets of the
Casbah and
How beautiful girls are.
How beautiful they are
How beautiful in my eyes...

I look around, I look, I look and see
So many variations there can be.
So many ways a girl can be
Beautiful......

How beautiful Kelly Bundy, Christina Applegate.
As she says her lines, comedic fun, and
All that dumb play and
How beautiful girls are.
How beautiful in my eyes.
How beautiful girls are.

BALLAD OF WILLIE NELSON

(ballad)
I was born in 1933.
My parents left and it was just my sister and me.
Grandparents raised us, we did all right.
Seems there was always music playing then
Seems I was always playing in a band
On a road or going home again.

Some way find my way back home
Some way I find my way back home.

I write songs and I play them everywhere.
Didn't write this but the ones I did you've heard.
And some I sing were written long ago.
I'm no different than who you think I am.
Just a simple straightforward man
A troubadour just trying to sing my songs and (chorus)

BOX OFFICE BLUES

(blues)
I've got the box office blues, oughta write it on the
marquee (repeat)
`Cause I sell tickets all day and
No one buys one for me.

I work the concession stand. Sell popcorn and candy
too (repeat)
I wasn't one of the lucky ones born sucking on a silver
spoon.

140MPH

(pop)
140 miles per hour.
You make me bitter, you make me sour.
Say you're mad in love with me
We'll stop this car and set me free
Pull over at the next stop and
Lift that pedal that's floored
And I'll... I' love you more.

3 long day and starry nights
Desert heat and red oil light
Your forehead's hot, the hoods a cloud,
Both need water to cool you down.
Your eyes are glazed over,
Knuckles white to the core,
But I...I love you more...

Love you more than anybody.
Love you more than anyone.

Go ahead then and drive and drive
Until this malady subsides.
Take me there no matter where or when.
Hope the gas holds out till then.
Speed up and keep passing.
We've gone too long and too far.
And I...I love you more... (to chorus)

THE MUSIC HISTORY OF TMK (HUNKASAURUS) AGE 14-31

(autobiographical waltz)
When I saw the Beatles I became a big fan
And decide to be a big star.
So I learned how to sing and I wrote me some songs
And I learned piano and guitar.
And though wasn't too good I thought that I was
And this kept me going on
Working and playing and writing and singing these
songs.

I showed songs to people; musicians, producers,
Record exec and such.
Some said they liked them and others said they liked `em
But they didn't like that much.
I brushed off rejection like dust off my shoulder
As best as I new how
And grumbling to the drawing board, shouted out
I'll show you now!

And I sang on, I sang on, I sang on.
And I sang on, I sang on, I sang on.

When I was young I was in it for the glory
Now I am older and I...just...want...to...play...

I have decided I'm one of 2 things
I'm either a genius or I'm not.
I'm either composing lilting gems or
Obstreperous, pendantic rot!
Or more likely, it's just simply music
That I loved for so long.
And so without further adieu
I think I'll sing on...lalala...
